Taking a Shot!

We are a friendly club and new players are always welcome. Both our teams are mixed and the current age range is between 10 to 55. There are a few club wheelchairs available to borrow and team players are always open to offer advice to those who may wish to purchase their own bespoke wheelchair.Taster sessions are free, once players are established they pay a small subscription to cover the hire of the sports hall and loan of a basketball wheelchair.

Wheelchair basketball is suitable for those who have a physical impairment due to birth, illness, accident, or conflict. As well as providing an active team sport, there are the added opportunities to improve fitness, health, rehabilitation, and weight management, plus a new social scene. This can be a lifetime sport for many who seek to get out more, being more active, and having fun.

To illustrate the potential of the game Hampshire Harriers can arrange introduction talks and demonstrations and any group wishing to try their hand in a sponsored game is welcome to contact us. Some schools/colleges get us involved us in their programs on disability/diversity, others in widening their sports management courses.
